Edie | $2,750 (SOLD)
At this stage Edie is SOLD. If you would like to express an interest in next year's calves, please use the form below.
Edie is suspected chondro positive (testing is pending).
Edie is polled. Both of her parents are polled so there is a chance she is homozygous polled (testing is pending).
Edie is dominant white, that means no matter what bull she is matched with, she will have a white calf (with or without coloured points depending on the bull).
Both of Edie's parents parents are mini so I expect Edie to mature at well under the miniature height standard of 107cm.
We do have a range of heights among our chondro girls (our shortest being 88cm and our tallest 104cm).
Unless you already have miniature cows and are wanting to add Edie to your team, she will need to go with a buddy. She is besties with Eva.
We wean our mini calves at about 6 months, so Edie will be ready from March 2025. Calves are vaccinated and drenched at weaning. We are NAIT registered and our TB status is C10.

Boris
Boris is the sire of Eva. Boris is a chondro positive miniature White Galloway measuring 94cm at the hip. Boris is quiet and treat trained (will come for snacks) but we do not handle or brush him - he is a bull after all.

Blue
Blue is the dam of Edie. Blue is approximately 100cm tall. Blue is half Dexter and half Speckle Park. We were hoping for a mini Blue but we got a mini Boris instead!
This year we are hoping Blue is in calf to Derek (our mini white Highland bull), we have our fingers crossed for a calf that looks just like her but with more fluff.

All our 2024 calves have homes
Edie and Eva are besties and are going to a home together. We will have more calves arriving in September 2025.

Some FAQs about mini calves
Do you sell calves for hand rearing?
We have a limited number of miniature Galloway cross calves available out of our Friesian cross dairy cows. These will be available for hand rearing in July of 2026.
They are available from 7 days old, covered transport is required (absolutely no cage trailers) and we do not allow these calves to travel more than two hours from our farm near Te Awamutu in the Waikato. Interisland travel is not an option.
We are not taking expressions of interest, these calves will be advertised as they become available on our Facebook page and in our Facebook group.
What do I need for mini cattle?
Mini cattle are cute but they have the same requirements as standard cattle in terms of friends and feed. We prefer our calves to go in pairs unless you already have mini cattle.
We require our forever homes to have suitable facilities for cattle - fencing, water, yards and a race, as well as a relationship with a local vet who will assist with an animal health plan.
How much area do I need?
One hectare of good grazing is enough for two miniature cattle - this doesn't include cross grazing with other animals. You will also need a plan for feeding supplement in dry and wet seasons.
Miniature cattle eat about the same amount as standard Highlands or Galloways. We have put together some info about grazing calculations here.
Do you have a waitlist?
We do not have a waitlist. Calves are currently being born and will be available in March and April of 2026. When calves are available they will be advertised via our Facebook group there will be an expression of interest form to be completed when calves are advertised.
We are very fussy about the forever homes that our mini moos go to so we do screen potential properties rigorously. We also have specific transport requirements.
What are the transport requirements?
If using a transporter we require our calves to be transported in pairs. You can collect your calves in a stock trailer or horse float (absolutely no cage trailers).
We have trusted transporters we can recommend, or buyers can arrange their own. We have yards, a race and a loading ramp.
It is our preference that our calves are transported for no more than four hours so preference will be given to homes within four hours of Te Awamutu in the Waikato.
Do you have straws available?
What do I need to know about breeding minis?
Breeding mini cows isn't as simple as it seems (take it from someone who thought it would be very simple!).
We have put together some tips and tricks here or you can join our Facebook group where we share lots of info.
How do I express an interest in your mini calves?
Our fluffy mini cows are much loved pets and we love their calves too. We are very fussy about the homes our calves go to. We are not currently taking any expressions of interest, please follow us on Facebook or join our Facebook Group for updates.
